Story of The Week
Quinn was your typical scrawny teenager who thought he’d be the next big thing in football or hockey—until he got hit. After about three solid tackles, he decided he liked breathing too much to pursue those dreams. Tennis was next on the list, but after a few weeks of swatting balls back and forth, he realized running was way overrated.
Then, one fateful day, Quinn stumbled upon pickleball. “How hard can it be?” he thought, watching retirees casually lob balls across the net. But once he picked up the paddle, something strange happened. It was like he’d unlocked a hidden superpower. His shots had this weird magical precision. He practiced pickleball like Forrest Gump did ping pong. He was obsessed. And that’s how Quinn became a teenage pickleball prodigy. Not exactly the title he’d dreamed of, but hey, fame is fame, right?
Soon, he was dominating the courts, leaving a trail of confused seniors in his wake. “Sorry, Ed, better luck next time!” he’d call out after the “Quinn Spin”—his signature shot that made the ball drop like it was cursed—left another 70-year-old wondering why they even showed up.
Naturally, he started a YouTube channel. And, of course, the internet loved it. Within months, he had 100K subscribers. Quinn, the pickleball king. His merch store was selling out faster than pickleball paddles at a retirement home, and fans were showing up to get his autograph on their paddle covers—because, you know, that's a thing now.
Sure, sometimes he felt bad crushing the spirits of the 60+ crowd at the beach, but a pro’s gotta do what a pro’s gotta do. The moral of the story? Have fun, embrace life.! You only get one lap around the sun, so you might as well ride it out… even if it's with a pickleball paddle in hand.
